KRANHAUS SÜD // Architecture

The great journey ahead

Architecture that sparks enthusiasm

70 metres long, 34 metres wide and more than 60 metres high spanning 16 floors: renowned architect Hadi Teherani (BRT architects) achieved a huge success in co-operation with architect Alfons Linster. The three Kranhaus buildings are visionary, shaping the style of the entire city. With their design which is based on the crane shape typical of the harbour and the glass façade, they are at the same time both solid and transparent.

The observer is presented with an impressive image of a monumental sculpture reflecting the water and the sky. Intelligent floor plans, high-quality interiors and the far view over the city and the river open up new perspectives to the companies located at the Southern Kranhaus.

Architecture becomes the face of the city

The development of the Rheinauhafen harbour into a vibrant district is an outstanding urbanistic achievement. The historic and listed harbour buildings were given new utilisation concepts and faced with state-of-the-art architecture. The result is a dynamic, vivid scene. Today, the Kranhaus buildings are already considered as the new landmark of a modern, future-oriented Cologne. They open up the historic heart of the city towards the river and form the hinge that links developed structures with innovations. Their exposed position and spectacular architecture will coin the city's profile – far beyond the city limits.
